Here we are the last day of February and I can't believe a whole month has passed since we last posted an update and pictures. What a month it's been?! We celebrated Jess's birthday, Faith had a sleepover with her cousins Connor & Kira, Faith and daddy had a daddy/daughter weekend while Jess visited Auntie Hannah in LA, and we shoveled LOTS of snow. We've had so many snow storms this winter I've lost track of the number and the timing. I do remember we got a big one (19"+) just before Valentine's Day. We were so excited to take Faith sledding, but she woke up from her nap that day with a 104 fever and spent the next 6 days being one very sick little girl. We had a few scary days where her fever spiked to 106 and we just played the tylenol, motrin game and did our best to keep her hydrated and comfortable. Thank goodness for pedialyte freezer pops and the PBS app for iPhones. We got lots of snuggles that week, which we loved. We just wish it wasn't because she didn't feel well. Thanks goodness Faith is feeling better. This weekend we're off to Philadelphia to visit Jess's brother and catch a Villanova basketball game. Enjoy the photos below and a few insights into the day to day with our crazy, amazing two year old.
- She loves to do "cheers!"We're not even sure where she learned it, but she loves clinking cups with other people. So much so that it's not uncommon to see her with two cups doing cheers with herself.
- She is loving Sesame Street these days. Especially her favorite character "Melmo" aka Elmo.
- While she was sick we discovered that she LOVES to take medicine. Sometimes she would even ask for more. No complaints from us, except that it's hard to explain the concept of medicine to a two year old and get her to understand why she can only have so much every few hours. This also applies to her Yummy Green vitamin which she takes every morning with her breakfast. One morning she threw a full on temper tantrum because we wouldn't give her a second vitamin. We just keep waiting for her to do a full 180 and decide she hates them!
- Her two favorite phrases right now are "No, k" and "Yes, k". Every time she says yes or no - they are followed by the question "ok?". What's funny is that she runs the words together so it sounds like one word. It's hilarious and hard to describe so I'll have to try to get a video.
- She is obsessed with applesauce. She literally asks for it at every meal. In general, she's eating all the time right now. That even continued while she was sick. 5 minutes after a meal and she's begging for more food. Even if she just ate a big meal filled with all kinds of good things. It's probably a growth spurt - but the go to is always "sauce". It could be worse, right?
- Even more than applesauce, she is obsessed with ketchup. We're really hoping it's a phase and not a Dave Willner-style obsession (those of you who went to UNC with Jess will get that reference). She asks for it at every meal as her "dip-dip" even if we're not eating something you normally dip in ketchup. It caused a major temper tantrum one morning last week when we wouldn't give her ketchup for her corn puffs. This girl sure does have a mind of her own.
- We are in a bit of a book rut right now. She will not go to sleep unless you read her two favorite books - Each Peach Pear Plum and Beautiful Oops. On a positive note - they are actually great books so we don't mind reading them over and over. Both Randy and Jess have them fully memorized. Beautiful Oops has one of our favorite quotes "If you make a mistake, think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful!" Words to live by friends, words to live by for sure!
- Whenever she gets a boo boo, you HAVE to kiss it for her before she'll move on. Even if it's a really minor bump. We love it and will never complain about more kisses.
- She repeats everything you say - no seriously EVERYTHING. Scary times in our house folks. Talk about thinking before you speak. We've accidentally taught her a few things we certainly wish she didn't know and I'm not even talking about swearing. Two year olds really open your eyes to what comes out of your mouth - not a bad thing really.
- She has figured out how to talk about herself in the third person. Her latest favorite phrase is saying "Faith's turn". If you have something she wants - "Faith's turn" and magically she thinks she gets what she wants. And the best one - she also likes to laugh hysterically and when you ask her what's so funny, she says "Faith"! Oh this girl, she makes us laugh!
Those are just a few of the stories we could think of, but honestly every day is filled with more laughing than we ever imagines possible. And of course there are some photos as always. Enjoy!
